Et tu....traveller?
On my way to the airport, I noticed this funny thing on the airtran. If you can't see in my shoddy 6am camera work, the ad says:"THE CHEAPER WAY TO MIDTOWN MANHATTAN....$7.25"
Basically (for those of you who have never had to embark on transit from JFK into the city) they are advertising an alternative to paying an average of $45 bucks from the airport to the New York area. It's $5 bucks to ride the airtran and $2.25 to take the subway anywhere in the city....transfers are FREE.99!
This got me to thinking...there seems to be a stigma in this country. I never got around to blogging my Italy trip in its entirety (partly because I'm lazy/busy/overwhelmed and misty-eyed every time I look at all those damn pictures) but when I was over there, and in London, it's not hard at all to notice how very little attention people pay to the HOW they get places. It's more about the quality of time spent. Cars are smaller, as is public transportation, not to mention WILDLY more efficient. And EVERYONE uses it without a second thought.
I can't tell you how many people I know in New York and LA that wouldn't be caught dead on a bus or a metro. I, too was guilty as charged for a bit. Even when I moved to NYC, it took me a while to get on the bus LOL. Now I make friends on the mofo, the weekly driver knows my name...shoot I meet Head Cases!
So why is it that when in Rome, literally, we can do what is best for the environment and our pockets but at home we must do what's best for our image? Are we Howard Hughes germaphobes? Is it pride? Is it comfort? Or simply we can not get past the image of the Jones' that was firmly placed on our walls once upon a time that subconsciously stated, "We can't ride anything that takes tokens"....

Seems like it might be a reality...Check this out:
United To Charge Heavier Passengers Twice To Fly
Airline Says Overweight Travelers Will Need To Buy Extra Seats Or Be Denied Entry To Planes
CHICAGO (CBS) ―If "beefy" or "curvy" describes you, here is a word of warning: United Airlines will begin aggressively enforcing a new policy that allows it to charge heavier passengers twice to fly.
United will now implement new policies for passengers they deem to be overweight.
Under the rules outlined by United, passengers who "are unable to fit into a single seat in the ticketed cabin; are unable to properly buckle the seatbelt using a single seatbelt extender; and/or are unable to put the seat's armrests down when seated" will be denied boarding unless they purchase an extra seat.
If no empty seat exists, the passenger will be forced to take a later flight.
"The seat purchase or upgrade must be completed for each leg of the itinerary," the United policy states. "If a customer meeting any of the above-listed criteria decides not to upgrade or purchase a ticket for an additional seat, he or she will not be permitted to board the flight."
The policy applies to tickets bought on or after March 4, for travel on Wednesday or later, according to the United Web site.
"Please understand that we care a great deal about all of our customers' well-being, and we have implemented this policy to help ensure that everyone's travel experiences with United are comfortable and pleasant," United said on its Web site.
While the directive has some United customer service representatives questioning the wisdom or legality of such charges, the double charge has become common practice in the industry.
The other major carrier at O'Hare International Airport, American Airlines, begs to differ.
American spokesman Tim Smith said that while the airline has the right to require a second ticket, it will do so only if it can find no other solution, such as re-seating the passenger next to an empty seat at no extra charge.
"I don't remember us ever having to impose such a charge," said American spokesperson Mary Frances Fagan.
Southwest Airlines also is known to be aggressive about imposing the double charge.
WBBM 780's Bob Roberts contributed to this report.

For the hungover to crack up..
THIS is HILARIOUS!!!!!
And now, Kanye's "response":
SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT’S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT……AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF “I TOLD YOU SO!!!” IT’S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU’RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE’S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I’M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I’M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I’M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I’M SURE THERE’S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS… THAT’S HOW YOU KNOW IT’S ME!
LOL...ooops lol (so you know its *M.* lol)...I mean Kanye, seriously, just admit ur in a confused state of life and keep it pushing my nig...It's completely understandable....

- I'm blunt...and rather observant...DUH that means I should blog! I suffer from, no let me rephrase, I combat living with an AVM on a daily basis. An AVM is an Abnormal Veinous Malformation which affects about 250,000 people in the US (http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/dept/cerebro/AVM.htm#Link8). It affects everyone differently, for me it's caused a constant headache since 2003...litterally. I've been in countless doctors offices, been poked and proded, been through the emotions of being misdiagnosed with a brain tumor. Needless to say, I've been through a lot and not just because of my...let's call it an ailment. Above all I've developed a less than common outlook on life and perception of things.Don't for one minute misconstrue, I'm in no way a victim, I'm self-sufficient almost to a fault and encourage others to turn their weaknesses into empowerment. It builds character and makes for one hell of a screenplay ha! That combined with growing up immersed in a semi-charmed world, and the glitz and glamour of Hollyweird leads to some interesting anecdotes...Here are my thoughts...
