Happy New Year Head Casers...
...I've been delayed in updates this I know. While I'm sure I don't have to remind you, the year started with a twilight moon, vividly blue and not to long after a very loud bang.
2010 is here and is not playing with us folks. I hope you all made your wishes and prayers that much louder that evening and have continued to speak them into existence....it's coming. The wheels are turning that much faster....Just stay ready and armed, ever faithful and strapped with your intuition, it's a mutha....
There is so much to discuss but as it comes and before anything else, please pray for Haiti...

Cherish LIFE...

To my middle school-12th grade homie Devin Petelski....You always had a beautiful spirit and you were taken WAY too soon. They say sometimes angels are needed elsewhere and I am sure that's the case....Rest in peace....
Fatal LAPD Car Crash Raises Questions
A police spokesman familiar with the accident could not be reached Monday afternoon.
Devin Petelski, 25, of Brentwood, was driving home minutes after midnight Friday from the treatment center where she worked as a substance abuse counselor when she was hit by the police car.
A police statement issued Friday said she stopped at the Glyndon Avenue stop sign, then pulled into the intersection to turn right onto Venice Boulevard.
That’s when the police car heading east on Venice hit the driver’s side of her BMW.
She died Sunday after doctors at UCLA Medical Center took her off life support, Medak said.
The LAPD Pacific Division police officer driving the other car suffered a broken right arm and a serious cut to his left arm. The officer who was a passenger in the patrol car suffered cuts and bruises, according to the police statement. Their names were not released.
Residents who live near where the crash occurred said they heard neither sirens nor brakes before the crash, only the sound of the police car hitting Petelski’s.
“Moments before the crash I heard the acceleration of an engine roaring up Venice Boulevard, and then I heard the impact,” Bonnie Wolfe wrote in an e-mail to KPCC.
Wolfe, who lives near the crash site, said a city bus she saw parked at the curb might have obscured the two drivers’ views of each others’ vehicles.
Medak said he spoke with a woman who was driving behind the police car and saw the crash. The police car was flashing its emergency lights as it drove on Lincoln Boulevard, but the lights were apparently switched off when the car turned onto Venice, the witness, Krysta Ohle, told him.
“Yet they maintained the same emergency response speed, in excess of 60 mph,” Medak said.
Witnesses said it took as much as 15 minutes for city paramedics to arrive.
Medak described Petelski as a woman who, after struggling with alcoholism, had been sober for two years and was dedicated to helping others recover.
“This was one of those rare individuals,” said Medak.
Petelski, the daughter of Ron Petelski and Shaunnah Godfrey, grew up in Brentwood and attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica. She attended Northwestern University and more recently UC Santa Barbara, pursuing a degree in communications, Medak said. She is also survived by her brother Michael.
A memorial service for Petelski is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, 12000 W. San Vicente Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Tuesday update: Los Angeles Police detective Jesse Ravega, who is investigating the crash for the West Traffic Division said it occurred at 11:55 p.m. Thursday.
The police officer who was driving the patrol car sustained a broken hand, not arm, he said, quoting an updated press statement dated today.
He declined to say why the officers were driving on Venice Blvd., or to say what speed, lights or siren were being used at the time of the crash because an investigation is continuing. He asked witnesses who have details to share to contact him at (323) 473-0236.

Another one bites the dusty cover and folds over..
VIBE says buh-bye...and Vibe Music Group CEO, Mr. Steve Aaron released this statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I share some tough news, VMG is closing down effective today, June 30 due to lack of additional financial investments. “Unfortunately, over the last several months, a confluence of events has obviously posed VMG to exceedingly serious challenges. “The collapse of the capital has impacted us greatly. Over the past several months, we have actively pursued investment resources while working intensively with our bank to find a solution. But the deal market right now remains very poor and at the end of the day, the lack of investment resources to restructure the huge debt on our small company has made this outcome become a reality. “The print advertising collapse hit VIBE hard, especially as key ad categories like and automotive fashion, which represented the bulk of our top 10 advertisers, have stopped advertising or gone out of business. It’s also unfortunate that in a recession many companies reduce the multi-cultural campaigns. These facts, coupled with the continuing decline of the music industry not to mention the newsstand wholesaler consolidation in early 2009 all negatively impacted our business in a significant way. “The relentless economic situation has depressed our growth initiatives on the digital front. To be clear, VMG has made significant improvement in this part of our business, but not at the accelerated pace required to offset the devastating effects of the most severe recession in our lifetime and the accompanying print losses." YIKES.....well....you all still have Head Cases ;p...

United To Charge Heavier Passengers Twice To Fly
Airline Says Overweight Travelers Will Need To Buy Extra Seats Or Be Denied Entry To Planes
CHICAGO (CBS) ―If "beefy" or "curvy" describes you, here is a word of warning: United Airlines will begin aggressively enforcing a new policy that allows it to charge heavier passengers twice to fly.
United will now implement new policies for passengers they deem to be overweight.
Under the rules outlined by United, passengers who "are unable to fit into a single seat in the ticketed cabin; are unable to properly buckle the seatbelt using a single seatbelt extender; and/or are unable to put the seat's armrests down when seated" will be denied boarding unless they purchase an extra seat.
If no empty seat exists, the passenger will be forced to take a later flight.
"The seat purchase or upgrade must be completed for each leg of the itinerary," the United policy states. "If a customer meeting any of the above-listed criteria decides not to upgrade or purchase a ticket for an additional seat, he or she will not be permitted to board the flight."
The policy applies to tickets bought on or after March 4, for travel on Wednesday or later, according to the United Web site.
"Please understand that we care a great deal about all of our customers' well-being, and we have implemented this policy to help ensure that everyone's travel experiences with United are comfortable and pleasant," United said on its Web site.
While the directive has some United customer service representatives questioning the wisdom or legality of such charges, the double charge has become common practice in the industry.
The other major carrier at O'Hare International Airport, American Airlines, begs to differ.
American spokesman Tim Smith said that while the airline has the right to require a second ticket, it will do so only if it can find no other solution, such as re-seating the passenger next to an empty seat at no extra charge.
"I don't remember us ever having to impose such a charge," said American spokesperson Mary Frances Fagan.
Southwest Airlines also is known to be aggressive about imposing the double charge.
WBBM 780's Bob Roberts contributed to this report.

We gotta watch the babies...
did you all hear what happened in Germany today??? *Courtesy of BBC
Germany is in shock after a heavily armed 17-year-old opened fire on pupils and teachers at his former school in a killing spree in which 15 people died.
The youth fled the school in Winnenden, south-west Germany, but shot himself dead after being cornered by police.
Chancellor Angela Merkel called the incident "unimaginable" and said it was a day of mourning for the whole nation.
Hundreds of people joined an emotional service at a Winnenden church to remember the victims.
German schools have suffered several attacks in recent years, but Wednesday's was the most deadly since 2002.
The teenager, named as Tim Kretschmer, entered the Albertville secondary school, north of Stuttgart, at about 0930 (0830 GMT) dressed in black combat gear.
Baden-Wuerttemberg Interior Minister Heribert Rech said he then opened fire on a class of 14- and 15-year-olds, aiming at their heads.
Eight girls and one boy were killed, along with three teachers. Seven other children suffered minor injuries.
Terrified pupils leapt from the school windows to escape.
A student called Celina told the BBC how the gunman had come into her classroom and "just shot everywhere".
"I threw myself on the floor and took my friends with me, and then I went to a corner and put a table in front of me, and he came again a second time and shot again," she said.
"We were in panic and in shock."
Another pupil, Eileen Toraman, said one of her friends had been killed while another had broken her leg jumping from a third-floor window.
"I don't understand why this happened. I have no idea what is supposed to happen now."
Despite the presence of dozens of police officers, the gunman escaped from the school, killing a passer-by as he fled.
'Appalling crime'
He then hijacked a car, taking its driver hostage, and reached the town of Wendlingen, about 40km (25 miles) away from the school.
The police believe he arrived in Wendlingen by chance, after the car's driver lost control on a sharp bend and came to a standstill.
The teenager fled into an industrial estate, where he shot and killed two men at a car showroom.

In a press briefing, Mr Rech said officers arrived at the showroom and traded gunfire with the teenager, hitting him in the leg.
"He fell down, but he got up and managed to load his gun. A little later he was found dead," said Mr Rech.
He had fled from officers into a dead-end street, where police found him apparently with a gun-shot wound in the head.
Local media reported that police had raided the suspect's house and recovered 16 weapons.
The teenager's father, thought to be a prominent businessman in the area, was reported to be a member of a local shooting club.
Eckehard Weiss, who coached Tim Kretschmer at table-tennis, told the BBC that he had been a relatively normal boy.
Mr Weiss said he had wanted to be a professional table-tennis player and had even played a match last weekend.
In a brief statement, Mrs Merkel described the shootings as an "appalling crime".
"It is unimaginable that in just seconds, pupils and teachers were killed. This is a day of mourning for the whole of Germany," she said.
Germany suffered its worst-ever school-shooting in 2002 when a former pupil at a school in the eastern city of Erfurt killed 14 teachers, two pupils and a police officer.
*This is CRAZY. We often with children, particularly with young boys, don't pay attention to their hiding of emotions and/or processing of them until they erupt in violent or unproductive ways. Perhaps with the latest outbursts in Germany and with Chris Brown, we will start teaching our sons and young men it is ok to be angry, upset, hurt, sad, but how to deal with that instead of always "man-ing up".What do you think Head Casers?

A lil inside mi noggin..

- Brooklyn, NY, United States
- I'm blunt...and rather observant...DUH that means I should blog! I suffer from, no let me rephrase, I combat living with an AVM on a daily basis. An AVM is an Abnormal Veinous Malformation which affects about 250,000 people in the US (http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/dept/cerebro/AVM.htm#Link8). It affects everyone differently, for me it's caused a constant headache since 2003...litterally. I've been in countless doctors offices, been poked and proded, been through the emotions of being misdiagnosed with a brain tumor. Needless to say, I've been through a lot and not just because of my...let's call it an ailment. Above all I've developed a less than common outlook on life and perception of things.Don't for one minute misconstrue, I'm in no way a victim, I'm self-sufficient almost to a fault and encourage others to turn their weaknesses into empowerment. It builds character and makes for one hell of a screenplay ha! That combined with growing up immersed in a semi-charmed world, and the glitz and glamour of Hollyweird leads to some interesting anecdotes...Here are my thoughts...
