I hope you all had a safe and responsible holiday! LOL...
As for me, I just got up not too long ago and can't tell if it was a dream, a movie, or just another day in the life of a Headcase....
After thoroughly deciding I was staying in, I got a Tweet from the Monkey Angel, YoMissB!, asking if I wanted to head to this listening party with her. "Might be fun," she said, " Maybe good for you to network for the band." I asked who's it was, "Asher Roth."....I was already halfway dressing before she got to the T in Roth lol.
Let me tell you, the weather in NYC last night put a damper on many a hippie child's adventure but the Rivington was swank as always and looked like a promising night.
We made it to the "penthouse" aka the Rivington rooftop and headed straight for the bar where I ran into an old classmate David who happened to produce 4 tracks on Asher's new album. Check out "As I Em" ft Chester French, "Lark on My Go-Kart", and "Bad Day" all produced by my boy David Appleton and Oren Yoel.
There are no coincidences folks...after running into David he introduced us to the whole party damn near, we had a great convo with a blown up monkey in the bathroom lol and freestyle Mondays with dutchies on the rooftop...until that got nixed.
Upon returning downstairs we stumbled across a dance off between Asher and DJ Wreckin Eyes and so we found this an opportune time to draw faces on balloons...(damn why didn't I bring my camera last night). All in all the release was a stellar affair and if you have not yet done so, go grab that "Asleep in the Bread Aisle" from iTunes....NOW.
In other new music Tuesday news, I have stumbled across some over the pond goodness. Enter Pez with "Festival Song"...Nice for the summer, right in time for the start of conferences and festivals...smart kids...Check it
Fun times...
So for your iTunes shopping cart....
I'm kinda digging Rossy bossy to grove and clean up to...not really for lyrical content...shhh don't tell curly...
It's hard to hate this guy although some are trying...he's not trying to be Em, he IS Asher as illustrated on #8 "As I Em" so eloquently. Everyone has a lane and he paved his nicely....his way.
You already know they brought it with the calculated precision of a Chinese victory at the Olympics. "People", the last track is my SHIT. COP IT! And check them out with Asher tonight at the Blender Ballroom in Gramercy, NYC or Next Wednesday @ the Steven store courtesy of Giant Step!
Live it folks....
xoxo.
