And the nominees are...

...So the Grammy nods are out and some are slightly upset...

Lets look at the relevant categories and my thoughts shall we?

Album of the Year
Coldplay, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III
Ne-Yo, Year of the Gentleman
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Raising Sand
Radiohead, In Rainbows

*While Lil Wayne SHOULD get this for doing what nobody's been able to in years and with a good album, I have suspicions it might go to Coldplay. I understand Radiohead, In Rainbows was amazing but Year of the Gentleman? Really? I give you 4 tracks maybe but Album of the year worthy? NAH! Maybe Because Of You but not this one. As far as Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, I get it but I don't understand how they measure up to the like of Coldplay and Weezy. They're good but they sound like a dozen other albums.

Best New Artist
Adele
Duffy
Jonas Brothers
Lady Antebellum
Jazmine Sullivan

*Now this category is funny. DUH Katy Perry got SCREWED and for Lady Antebellum no less, a fellow label mate (well they're Nashville she's mainstream but still). This is so random. I pretty much agree with the rest. I def think that Jazmine or Adele SHOULD get it but it's going to Jonas Brothers or Duffy.

Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group
Big Boi (featuring Raekwon and Andrew 3000), "Royal Flush"
Jay-Z and T.I. (featuring Lil Wayne and Kanye West), "Swagger Like Us"
Lil Wayne (featuring Jay-Z), "Mr. Carter"
Ludacris (featuring T.I.), "Wish You Would"
Young Jeezy (featuring Kanye West), "Put On"

*"Mr. Carter" should win for the line "Man I got summer hatin on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun/Spring hatin on me cuz I aint neva sprung/ Winter hatin on me cuz I'm colder than yall/And I will neva I will neva I will neva fall/ I been hated by the seasons/ So fuck yall hating for no reason"
But my spidy sense tells me "Swagger Like Us" might take this one...

Record of the Year
Adele, "Chasing Pavements"
Coldplay, "Viva la Vida"
Leona Lewis, "Bleeding Love"
M.I.A., "Paper Planes"
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, "Please Read the Letter"

*"Bleeding Love" hands down...this song was EVERYWHERE this year. If that doesn't get it, "Viva la Vida" will although I really really wish it was "Chasing Pavements" or "Paper Planes"...in that order.

Song of the Year
Estelle (featuring Kanye West), "American Boy"
Adele, "Chasing Pavements"
Jason Mraz, "I'm Yours"
Sara Bareilles, "Love Song"
Coldplay, "Viva la Vida"

*Sara Bareilles needs to win JUST for the simple fact that she wrote an entire album the way she wanted, was told by stupid execs she needed a love song, and this is the brilliance she came up with. "I'm not gonna write you a love song/ Cuz ya asked for it cuz ya need one/ya see..." DOPE!
But honestly, Coldplay or Estelle will snatch this unless they RECOGNIZE and give it to Sara or Adele for their genius.

Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals
Coldplay, "Viva la Vida"
The Eagles, "Waiting in the Weeds"
Gnarls Barkley, "Going On"
Maroon 5, "Won't Go Home Without You"
OneRepublic, "Apologize"

*If One Republic does finally gets some recognition for one of the best songs of the year, I'm turning off the rest of the ceremony (to watch on tivo later lol). Apologize was everyone's jam FOR-FLIPPIN-EVER. Totally quality song across all boards even if you had no idea about One Republic before it. I have a feeling since it's like the oldest single in the category it just might take it.

Best Rock Album
Coldplay, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Kid Rock, Rock N Roll Jesus
Kings of Leon, Only by the Night
Metallica, Death Magnetic
The Raconteurs, Consolers of the Lonely

*As much as I love Kings of Leon and The Raconteurs, Coldplay better nab this...

Best Rap Album
Jay-Z, American Gangster
Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III
Lupe Fiasco, The Cool
Nas, Nas
T.I. Paper Trail

*In a more intellectual world, this would HAVE to go to Lupe, the Cool was amazing. But The Carter III was the shit too and did what nobody else is. However, spidy sense on overload, this JUST might go to Jay-Z which, while it didn't do Wayne's numbers, was on a sampling and lyrical sophistication that the academy might like slightly more. I don't even know how Paper Trail made it in it was cool but not on the same level and Nas was more contrversial than quality.

Producer of the Year, Non-Classical
Danger Mouse
Nigel Godrich
Johnny Karkazis
Rick Rubin
Will.I.Am

*This one is a toughie...Rick Rubin is a legend for bringing my fav combo together Rock and Rap, i.e. his masterpiece Jay-Z's 99 Problems. Will.I.am's last album was slept on in my opinion, his songs for the campaign amazing and everything he's done on damn near everyone's album knocks! I always love Danger Mouse....geez I don't even know here. Whoever wins will be well deserved.

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
Adele, "Chasing Pavements"
Sara Bareilles, "Love Song"
Duffy, "Mercy"
Leona Lewis, "Bleeding Love"
Katy Perry, "I Kissed a Girl"
Pink, "So What"

*Katy should for the simple fact that she got blatantly dissed but I don't think she will win for that very fact. This again is another toughie....ALL were great songs and worthy of the nods. I predict Leona, I don't know why...

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
Kid Rock, "All Summer Long"
John Mayer, "Say"
Paul McCartney, "That Was Me"
Jason Mraz, "I'm Yours"
Ne-Yo, "Closer"
James Taylor, "Wichita Lineman"

*This is one random ass category...WTF....I want John to win but I really can't call it because this category is so all over the place.

Best Dance Recording
Daft Punk, "Harder Better Faster Stronger"
Hot Chip, "Ready for The Floor"
Lady Gaga and Colby O'Donis, "Just Dance"
Madonna, "Give It 2 Me"
Rihanna, "Disturbia"
Sam Sparro,"Black & Gold"

*Sooooo proud of Gaga but even more proud that Daft Punk is FINALLY getting the recognition they deserve. I have an inkling it'll go to Rhianna but it should go to Daft.

Best Electronic/Dance Album
Brazilian Girls, New York City,
Daft Punk, Alive 2007,
Cyndi Lauper, Bring Ya to The Brink
Kylie Minogue, X
Moby, Last Night
Robyn, Robyn

*DAFT DAFT DAFT! lol But this category is well represented. Robyn's album was great as was Brazilian Girls. I think they may give it to Cyndi just for respect notions...

Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals
AC/DC, "Rock N Roll Train"
Coldplay, "Violet Hill"
The Eagles, "Long Road Out of Eden"
Kings of Leon, "Sex on Fire"
Radiohead, "House of Cards"

*I LOVE "House of Cards" and "Sex on Fire" but "Violet Hill" will def take this......

Best Hard Rock Performance
Disturbed, "Inside the Fire"
Judas Priest, "Visions"
The Mars Volta, "Wax Simulacra"
Mötley Crüe, "Saints of Los Angeles"
Rob Zombie, "Lords of Salem"

*I can't even speak on this, Mötley Crüe is really the only one I fux with...

Best Metal Performance
DragonForce, "Heroes of Our Time"
Judas Priest, "Nostradamus"
Metallica, "My Apocalypse"
Ministry, "Under My Thumb"
Slipknot, "Psychosocial"

Best Alternative Music Album
Beck, Modern Guilt
Death Cab for Cutie, Narrow Stairs
Gnarls Barkley, The Odd Couple
My Morning Jacket, Evil Urges
Radiohead, In Rainbows

*Geez the grammys went in this year or music was just good. Again this is difficult. My Morning Jacket truly arrived but so did Death Cab for Cutie. "I will Posess your Heart" had one of the best intros I've heard in a while and the vocals? AMAZING. Beck proved why he's stayed around and Gnarls' follow up had a few impressive tracks but I don't know abut Best album.

Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
Beyoncé, "Me, Myself and I"
Keyshia Cole, "Heaven Sent"
Jennifer Hudson, "Spotlight"
Alicia Keys, "Superwoman"
Jazmine Sullivan, "Need U Bad"

*J Hud sorry to say might get the sympathy vote on this one. But it FOR SURE needs to go to Alicia or Jazmine. I love "Heaven Sent" but it's not as powerful vocally as "Superwoman" or "Need U Bad". Lyrically yes but not vocally.

Best Male R&B Vocal Performance
Eric Benét, "You're the Only One"
Chris Brown, "Take You Down"
Ne-Yo, "Miss Independent"
Trey Songz, "Can't Help But Wait"
Usher, "Here I Stand"

*Chris Brown hands down. The guitar alone that went into this track let alone that the boy sounds like he came of age in 4:06 of the song lol.

Best Rap Solo Performance
Jay-Z, "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is ... )"
Lil Wayne, "A Milli"
Lupe Fiasco, "Paris, Tokyo"
Nas, "N.i.*.*.e.r. (The Slave and the Master)"
Snoop Dogg, "Sexual Eruption"

*Is this even a question? A Milli A milli a milli to Obama Obama Obama! This beat, this flow....this song was EVERYWHERE this summer...this fall and still this winter...Bronze would go to Roc Boys and Silver to Sexual Eruption but A Milli sold a milli and is totally taking this category.

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration
Estelle (featuring Kanye West), "American Boy"
Flo Rida (featuring T-Pain), "Low"
John Legend & Andre 3000, "Green Light"
Lil Wayne featuring T-Pain, "Got Money"
Lupe Fiasco (featuring Matthew Santos), "Superstar"

*"Superstar" should win, after that "Green Light" but sadly it'll prob go to one of the T-Pain travesties or "American Boy".

Best Rap Song
Lil Wayne, "Lollipop"
Flo Rida (featuring T-Pain), "Low"
Snoop Dogg, "Sexual Eruption"
Lupe Fiasco (featuring Matthew Santos), "Superstar"
Jay-Z & T.I. (featuring Kanye West & Lil Wayne), "Swagger Like Us"

*"Lollipop" if not for Weezy, for Static....But it's only right it's been on the charts the longest out of all these bad boys...

Can't wait for Feb 8th!! What are your thoughts??

I'm blunt...and rather observant...DUH that means I should blog! I suffer from, no let me rephrase, I combat living with an AVM on a daily basis. An AVM is an Abnormal Veinous Malformation which affects about 250,000 people in the US (http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/dept/cerebro/AVM.htm#Link8). It affects everyone differently, for me it's caused a constant headache since 2003...litterally. I've been in countless doctors offices, been poked and proded, been through the emotions of being misdiagnosed with a brain tumor. Needless to say, I've been through a lot and not just because of my...let's call it an ailment. Above all I've developed a less than common outlook on life and perception of things.Don't for one minute misconstrue, I'm in no way a victim, I'm self-sufficient almost to a fault and encourage others to turn their weaknesses into empowerment. It builds character and makes for one hell of a screenplay ha! That combined with growing up immersed in a semi-charmed world, and the glitz and glamour of Hollyweird leads to some interesting anecdotes...Here are my thoughts...

There are many other Headcases in the world...here are a few..
