I turn 24 today and I couldn't have asked for a more hilarious birthday present than the vice presidential debate!!! Here are some of my favorite parts:
In the fashion of not answering questions-
PALIN:Now, Barack Obama, of course, he's pretty much only voted along his party lines. In fact, 96 percent of his votes have been solely along party line, not having that proof for the American people to know that his commitment, too, is, you know, put the partisanship, put the special interests aside, and get down to getting business done for the people of America.
(Translation HE DOESN'T FALL IN!)
We're tired of the old politics as usual. And that's why, with all due respect (Translation CHEAP SHOT), I do respect your years in the U.S. Senate, but I think Americans are craving something new and different and that new energy and that new commitment that's going to come with reform.I think that's why we need to send the maverick (I'm beginning to think she doesn't even know what a Maverick is besides a repetitious pronoun for her running mate) from the Senate and put him in the White House, and I'm happy to join him there.

IFILL: Governor, Senator, neither of you really answered that last question about what you would do as vice president. I'm going to come back to that...
(LAUGHTER)
On who she's addressing-
PALIN: One thing that Americans do at this time, also, though, is let's commit ourselves just every day American people, Joe Six Pack, hockey moms across the nation, I think we need to band together and say never again.
**NEWSFLASH PALIN** You just isolated a BIG ass chunk of these "Americans" you speak of. For one there's like 30 some odd black hockey players, of those over half aren't even American (yes I looked this up because who the fuck plays hockey in the hood). The list of Latino, Native American, Asian and other ethnic groups is even smaller. Basically you picked the most Lilly-white sport to keep referencing so what are you really saying because there are no "hockey moms" on my block. But maybe you got some Joe six packs. Or JD pint all around good guys lol. So what is this Birth of your Lipstick Pig Nation? Let me know how that movie sequel turns out because the first was mighty scary/classic.
PALIN: I'm still on the tax thing because I want to correct you on that again. And I want to let you know what I did as a mayor and as a governor. And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also.
WE DON'T BELIEVE YOU, YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE!
PALIN: I am because he's got a good health care plan that is detailed. And I want to give you a couple details on that. He's proposing a $5,000 tax credit for families so that they can get out there and they can purchase their own health care coverage. That's a smart thing to do. That's budget neutral. That doesn't cost the government anything as opposed to Barack Obama's plan to mandate health care coverage and have universal government run program and unless you're pleased with the way the federal government has been running anything lately, I don't think that it's going to be real pleasing for Americans to consider health care being taken over by the feds. But a $5,000 health care credit through our income tax that's budget neutral.
Soooo you think it wiser to give people ultimately, a blank check? How the hell is that more logical? Most people don't think about what a necessity good healthcare is until they truly need it, and then it's too late and more often than not they are already fucked by the system. So what seems more likely? The populous following a neat, tight packed and laid out government structured, and equalized might I add, plan? Or receiving a check and being left to their own devices to figure it out? I agree with Biden:
Biden: So you're going to have to place -- replace a $12,000 plan with a $5,000 check you just give to the insurance company. I call that the "Ultimate Bridge to Nowhere."
Overall I felt the debate got a little caddy. And if Palin said "Darn" one more time, I was gonna reach through my TV and ring her stupid glasses around her matte-lipstick dawning puckers!
We just gotta get Obama in, neither of these tools are equipped for anything and of course...Palin scares me...
*Thanks to all the HC fans that emailed me about this (no Rory u weren't the only lol)
