One of many of Obama's platforms is education, one of which I believe is the root of many cyclical things in our nation and world at large. Without equal education, one finds themselves behind in the workforce, in turn behind economically, behind socially and it all comes full circle to not being able to do the same for one's children. Now granted there are all exceptions to the rule but on a broad spectrum, education is KEY to many of our problems.
Moreover, things such as hate, ignorance, prejudice etc are all TAUGHT notions. Babies do not come out hating other races and cultures, genders and sexualities. It is a wiling combination of teachings and lack of examples in one's environment. Take this for example, if you grow up in Bumblef*ck, Idaho and your parents always make reference to "those lazy spics and niggers" then the only movie you ever see is Half Baked, Don't Be A Menace and the variety of afternoon talk shows, what else would you believe? By the time you're an adult, it's all you've ever known so even coming across something different, say a Barack Obama, is not going to change that. Check this out:
He's not alone. Nor is he in his beliefs. There is a vast array of quality individuals like this that STILL exist in America. He's just slightly braver to put not only a face to his words but actually say them as opposed to the usual "you people's" and "THEM".
Perhaps it is harder for the fading majority to understand what it feels like because there have never been such overtly hurtful words or actions towards them. Even the most supposedly hurtful are actually more literal than anything and quite frankly don't invoke as much hate....redneck vs. nigger....trailer trash vs. spic.....Not so much.
What's even more apparent is how many don't realize exactly HOW MUCH this election means. Amongst so much hatred that still exists, amongst so many hurdles and hoops placed before him, among so many foes, for a black man to succeed in a country that seemingly wants us gone in so many ways, it's remarkable. For him to be as good a candidate as he is besides that is TREMENDOUS.
So besides a black and white, a new brand of civil war, I guess when making the decision one has to decide, "WHAT KIND OF COUNTRY DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN??" And I say this totally nonpartisan based on the facts. Would you rather an energy-independent, war continuing, keeping the spread of wealth vastly disproportionate but with low taxes and $5k/month to figure out the health care system on your own? Or move towards dependence on other types of energy, get out of the war and work on our worldly relations, spread the wealth in this country so we can not only get out of this rut but equalize things like the work force, health, hunger right here at home, education initiatives and a universal health care system where EVERYONE is taken care of?
I guess it goes back to my survey a few weeks ago....what are the varying levels of selfishness?

- I'm blunt...and rather observant...DUH that means I should blog! I suffer from, no let me rephrase, I combat living with an AVM on a daily basis. An AVM is an Abnormal Veinous Malformation which affects about 250,000 people in the US (http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/dept/cerebro/AVM.htm#Link8). It affects everyone differently, for me it's caused a constant headache since 2003...litterally. I've been in countless doctors offices, been poked and proded, been through the emotions of being misdiagnosed with a brain tumor. Needless to say, I've been through a lot and not just because of my...let's call it an ailment. Above all I've developed a less than common outlook on life and perception of things.Don't for one minute misconstrue, I'm in no way a victim, I'm self-sufficient almost to a fault and encourage others to turn their weaknesses into empowerment. It builds character and makes for one hell of a screenplay ha! That combined with growing up immersed in a semi-charmed world, and the glitz and glamour of Hollyweird leads to some interesting anecdotes...Here are my thoughts...
